Atlantic City’s flashy new Revel casino hopes to lure in trendy new gamblers to its $2.4 billion resort. But this review shows that on the first day of opening, the casino was populated by the usual old folks and hard-core gambling types that populate the other AC casinos. Bring on the coach buses and cheap buffet.
It’s a depressing sight, especially on a Monday morning, to see all the old people literally tethered to the slot machines aimlessly giving their money away. It’s even worse to walk the surrounding streets and see the pawnshops, soup kitchens and dollar stores that surround the casinos. One more casino stripping wealth from those who can least afford it is not going to change AC’s fortunes.
Here’s Inquirer reporter Amy Rosenberg’s take: “Monday mornings are never a glamorous time for a casino, so I’m not going to judge the vibe from today, but let’s just say, New casino, Same people. Not that there’s anything wrong with the familiar Atlantic City mix of old folks, slackers and early birds, but who sent out the memo for everyone to wear sweat pants, sensibly soled shoes and windbreakers on Revel’s big day?”

Dear whomever wrote this article Revel never said this was their big day, huge casinos especially biggest and most expensive east of missisippi have soft openings just too test the machines, dealing procedures, security, room service, customer service and tons of other things that can not be tested on your high end customets paying a premium for a beautiful room with a great vacation experience in fact from march til memorial day the generous revel has given rooms for free too employess which i a guest at the hotel was very appreciative and probided positive feedback. For those of you who are positive thinkers and still excited too see a resort style place that happens too have a casino in it similiar too staying at Wynn and Encore and Atlantis paradise resort in bahamas. The Revel i can guarantee you will feel like paradise compared too every place in ac. If your a gambler its a fun environment, but if you like Iron Chef cooking Bahama like views, New York Fifth avenue shopping with shows like Beyonce Maroon 5 and many others than i can promise you, you will not ser the same old bus takers borgata has no buffet or bus service, if you wanna have fun with low minimums come now but if you want a vacation like experience come memorial day weekend when everything is open not just the casino. My friends work here and your experience on that day may have been accurate but you mention none of the optomistic parts that arent open yet nor did you mention anything bout the hotel rooms decor or the friendly smiling fun service provided. Trust me when i say even coworkers are waiting for Grand Opening.
